Grants.gov to Require Sign In Using Login.gov

As of February 21st, 2022, all Grants.gov users will be required to sign in to their accounts with Login.gov credentials. Login.gov is a secure sign in service for logging in to participating government agency portals with a single username and password. Several federal sites have already begun requiring Login.gov, including GrantSolutions (Department of the Interior) and Sam.gov. Anyone who prepares or submits proposals in Grants.gov must have their own personal Login.gov credentials by the deadline for access to the system.

NSF and NIH will soon require 2FA for their systems - Research.gov (NSF) and eRA Commons / ASSIST (NIH). These systems offer two options: (1) Use a “InCommon Federated” account, which means you can select your organization and sign-in using your university netID, password, and 2FA method, or (2) Use a Login.gov account.
