When FCOI is required, project spending should not commence until FCOI is completed. Thus, the anticipation request cannot be approved until the FCOI checklist is finalized. SPA will communicate this with OVCRI, who will follow up with the PI to complete the FCOI checklist. Questions regarding FCOI status can be sent to phsdisclosure@illinois.edu.  

Once the status has changed to “Approved” you should typically receive your CFOP from SPA within five business days. Please reach out to your appropriate Award Management contact should this be an urgent request. 

The IP# will be generated once the proposal has been submitted by your department and approved by SPA.  

Use the original Institutional Proposal # and include a comment in the notes section for this special circumstance.

One proposal was submitted for multiple years and the sponsor issues each year’s funding as a separate new award.

A proposal packet must be submitted to SPA through myProposals. For more information for what is needed, myProposals will guide you through the process. The departmental contact and PI should receive an automated email confirming submission once SPA has finalized the proposal. This email will include the Institutional Proposal number (IP#). 

Yes, in some scenarios the award may not be executed by the start date and submitting an anticipation request will allow charges to be transferred to the appropriate CFOP. There should be a high degree of certainty that this award will be fully executed.  

To request an Anticipation Fund or extend an existing Anticipation Fund 

SPA will send a follow up email if an anticipation request has been rejected to indicate the reason and the necessary follow up action. Below are the most common reasons anticipation requests are rejected: 

The Ongoing Request tab of the GC70 system includes a Status column to indicate if the request is in draft status, been returned, or awaiting Authorized Signatory and/or PI approval. Once it has been routed to SPA, email spa@illinois.edu to inquire on the status. Separate e-mail notification is provided for grant/fund setup.
